Re: 24/7 press access request

I want Costco to apply for the guest curratorship, but we'd fuck it up. We're just too good at making order out of chaos. I want to fuck shit up with people who make chaos out of order. Thus, I'm so there.

I WAS planning to ditch BM for the first time in a dozen years and go on a punk rafting trip down the Green River. Y'all might just, maybe might, could sorta, possibly could make me change my mind. Sounds like our hoo ha could kick some serious butt.

Re: 24/7 press access request

That's true. But we actually print the godforsaken SSM right there on the playa with our "printing press". Some guy called it a copier once; god damn him.

It can be done pretty cheaply, but not easily. You have to watch it all the time, and sit inside a closed off space, like a vehicle, in the sun, with all the windows rolled up, and then you get ink all over yourself when the ink runs out and you have to change it, but you can't wash it off or anything because you HAVE TO KEEP WATCHING THE "PRINTING PRESS".

It's a damn miracle that we print the thing, let alone every day. Except when we miss a day because of: drinking.

We considered mimeograph at first, hand-cranked and totally analog, but it was felt we needed more pictures for people to look at. People like pictures.

Re: 24/7 press access request

I think there are still (Gasp!) analog ways of doing press.
Like typewriters and those green printouts you got in jr. high because schools couldn't afford copy machines yet.
I am nerdy enough to remember that but not nerdy enough to know their names.
if you are interested, I could look into aqiring one of those dinosaurs and drag it to the playa.

I also take hits on the head with a board. As long as it doesn't muss up my lipstick.

Re: 24/7 press access request

Speaking for myself only, of course, I would be happy to be bribed silly by any kind of BORG2 press junket, even if it involves eating tiny hot dogs, in return for positive "press". And I put "press" in quotation marks like that just so you know that we don't have a printing press. But it's sort of a machine that makes noise and spews out ugly prints.

SSM/SMRL (<- Johnnnie put it like that so I'm gonna do it too and see if it makes me drunk)

PS - can I hit any of you on the head with a board?

I think I will put that on my cube.

Invite them to lunch on offer to buy.
Sometimes that works.

Re: 24/7 press access request

I just love reporters! But they never call back.

I think Larry will take the bet.

Re: 24/7 press access request

Do I know you?
How did you know that reporters respond to food bribes and free booze?
That's, like, how I live most of the year making the peanuts I make.
If BORG2 has its own Media Melarka, I think we should offer those little hot dogs that are like, really small and in heavy goop.
Mostly because I like hot dogs and I am hot on that whole TinyBM thing and reporters are suckers for anything free even if its highly-processed questionable meat bobbing in a sorta warm sauce.

Re: 24/7 press access request

Nah, we already talked it over and if you gave SMRL control of any money we'd find a way to blow all of it on cheap women and expensive booze. We'd rather sign up for your press junkets, instead. Remember, the way to get a good press is to bribe the reporters with lots and lots of booze and the occasional hooker. Just saying.

Re: 24/7 press access request

AFAIK, the other rags don't sponsor anything in particular... I'd support the Spock Science Monitor sponsoring an Art Master Race a la the Examiner's Bay to Breakers...

Re: 24/7 press access request

hyperwhiskey makes my mouth too big.
But I can help with media junk if you want.
Lemme know.

Re: 24/7 press access request

I get this weird feeling Larry is not going to take on the bet... Hope I'm wrong.

Personally, I say we wait Larry's response...

BTW... awesome to see this tribe is growing!

Re: 24/7 press access request

yes, i am clear on who johnnie royale is as well as the rest of his band of drunks. my mole comment was ironic. i need to use more emotocons or something. it seems comedy is no longer assumed in bman discussions, much to the detriment of our discussions.

my only question is whether spock mountain is going to apply for the guest curatorship position or not. they could do a great job most likely. johnnie?

or maybe we should wait to see if larry takes the bet before we get into all that.

Re: 24/7 press access request

I'm sure Laura could help with media questions. She's good with that. Although she may be bribable with hyperwhiskey.

Re: 24/7 press access request

jim, you do know what the spock science monitor is, right? that they are just about as irreverant and not in any way related to the borg as you can get... they're most definitely on the right side of things here. in fact they got their papers confiscated at the gate a couple of years ago before they could distribute them.

i say give 'em access, and watch out for the hyperwhiskey.

"Science. Shut up and drink it."

Re: 24/7 press access request

i suggest you grant full access but demand hyperwhiskey!

------------------------------------------

So I see you're looking for guest curators for your BORG2 experiments, which is why I sending stuff to this email address. I'm not applying for that, but as a reporter for the Spock Science Monitor, I (and probably a couple of other SSM reporters) would like to have full access to the process so we can provide TOTAL COVERAGE of the BORG2 project.

Full access in that we can attend the meetings, get on the email lists, interview the guest curators, listen in on conference calls, etc, etc, etc.
Let me know.

Thanks
